Meet the Minister of State



MS. DEBASREE CHAUDHURI
Ms. Debasree Chaudhuri (born on 31 January 1971) is the Minister of State for Women and Child Development in Government of India. She is first time MP in 17th Lok Sabha and first time Minister in the present Govt. She was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Raiganj constituency in West Bengal in the 2019 Indian general election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She won from the Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency with 511652 votes.

Ms. Chaudhuri was born in Balurghat to Late Shri Debidas Chaudhuri and Mrs. Ratna Chaudhuri. She completed her Master of Arts from the University of Burdwan.

In May 2019, Ms. Chaudhuri became Minister of State for Women and Child Development.

Her constituency has common international border with north-western Bangladesh. She has a long association with Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student wing of ruling party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). She has worked in the field of youth and women development.

She is also holding charge of General Secretary of BJP in West Bengal.
